LISBON - State police said this morning that the investigation into the death of Lisbon Central School student Victor Novosel is being treated as an accidental death.
Mr. Novosel was 17 and in the 10th grade.
The investigation will not be wrapped up until next week due to the amount of documentation investigators are handling.
State police said the investigation is in its final stages, but would not offer more details until the case is closed.
The case is being handled by the the Bureau of Criminal Investigations. Police said the death, which was reported at 4:47 p.m. Wednesday, was not suspicious in nature and was not a suicide, contrary to reports from other news sources Thursday.
The accident occurred in Mr. Novosels bedroom, state police said.
Students and faculty at Lisbon Central School were alerted to Mr. Novosels death on Thursday morning and a counseling center was set up in the library.
The school was on a one-hour delay Thursday and after-school activities were canceled.
