Gavin Bryce Tedford, 29, of 10500 County Route 125, Chaumont, passed February 4,2014 in Albany, NY.

He was born on October 12, 1984 in Watertown, NY, son of Donald B. and Diane C. Tedford.

He graduated from Lyme Central School in 2003 and was Valedictorian of the class. He then attended Cornell University in Ithaca for a semester before graduating from Jefferson Community College in 2005 with an Associates Degree in Arts and Science. In 2007 he graduated from Clarkson University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology.

While in high school he was a member of the National Honor Society, very active in soccer, sailing, Watertown Hockey Association, TI Varsity Hockey Team, the golf team, Big Brothers/ Big Sisters, ski club, various music programs and drama productions.

Gavin was a gifted musician, skier, sailor, long distance runner and had recently completed the Empire State Marathon in October 2013.

He worked as a sailing instructor for CYC Junior Division in Chaumont, as an instructor at Dry Hill Ski Area, as a life skills coach at Transitional Living Services, was an adjunct math instructor at JCC and currently employed by Valet Park of America in Albany.

Among his survivors are his parents, Donald B. and Diane C. Tedford, Chaumont; a brother, Nathan C. Tedford and Maxine Jonas, Charlestown, MA; a sister, Alison B. Tedford, Sudbury, MA; his maternal grandmother, Constance D. Cote, Auburn, ME; an uncle, William B. Cote, Lewiston, ME; an aunt and her husband, Elaine and Tom Middleton and their daughter Katherine Middleton, Jefferson, ME and his beloved Golden Retriever Toby.

Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

There will be no calling hours or funeral service. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family.

While Gavin’s struggle with addiction has ended, his memory will forever live in the hearts of those he touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Watertown Urban Mission Bridge Program “Run for Recovery” 247 Factory St., Watertown, NY 13601, Hospitality House 271 Central Ave., Albany, NY 12206 or to Lyme Central School Scholarship Fund where a music scholarship will be established in Gavin’s name 11868 Academy St., Chaumont, NY 13622.
