OFA wrestlers pin to win


CANTON - Ending an extended layoff for exams and a weather postponement, the OFA secured a 59-18 win at Canton on Thursday night where the two teams combined for nine pins. Coach Bill Mitchell’s squad lifted its record to 4-3 heading into a makeup match at Gouverneur on Tuesday.

Zach Roberts posted OFA’s first fall stopping Steven Degray 17 seconds into the 106 pound match. Other Devil falls were recorded by: Brody Sheppard (120) who posted a 16-1 technical fall over Jon Fetcie, Adam Rickett (138) over Zane Atchie, Josh Wangler (132) over Dawson Kerr, Glynn Breen (145) over Justin Foster, Bailey Phelps (152) over Carl Hayes 0:25 and Jordan McCormick (182) over Alan Clement 2:23.

Canton countered with falls by Caleb Cunninghanm (126) over Austin Lalonde 2:27 and Thomas Lombard (285) over Grewal Gurjok in 0:13.

OFA also gained a 2-1 edge in forfeits with Cordell David at 99 and Cody Allen David 160 and Canton’s Zachary Rottier won unopposed at 220.

Accounting for the only decisions of the night Tanner LaPiene controlled Ryan Brown 6-0 at 113 and Alex Cole defeated Jared Cascanette 4-0 at 170.
