College hockey: St. Lawrence drubs Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. — Patrick Doherty scored a pair of goals and assisted on another, and Gavin Bayreuther totaled four assists as St. Lawrence University’s men’s hockey team rolled past Princeton, 7-1 on Friday night in an ECAC Hockey game at Hobey Baker Rink.

Justin Baker registered his second consecutive three-point night with a goal and two assists for the Saints (10-14-3, 4-8-3), who have won two of their past three games after managing only one point in their previous 10 games.

Matt Weninger made 24 saves to record the win for St. Lawrence, which allowed only eight shots on goal in each of the last two periods.

Woody Hudson, Gunnar Hughes and Brian Ward each tallied a goal and an assist for the ninth-place Saints, who generated their largest offensive output since an 8-5 win at Dartmouth on Nov. 9.
