SUNY Potsdam to induct Ziemba, 2 others

POTSDAM — SUNY Potsdam will induct three former athletes into the Bears Hall of Fame on July 12.

Joining this year are Jodi Ziemba (women’s soccer, class of 2007), Ryan Hanretty (men’s lacrosse, 2005) and Tom Hutchinson (men’s basketball, 1977). The ceremony will take place at 11:30 a.m. at the Knowles Conference Center.

Ziemba, who was also a standout at Edwards-Knox, scored 45 goals in 66 career games for the Bears and was the SUNYAC Rookie of the Year in 2001. She’s now a health coaching supervisor at WellCall, Inc. in Alameda, Calif.

Hanretty, from Williamsville, was a goalie and was named an All-American in 2005. He is the school’s all-time leader in saves with 764 and now works as a senior manager of branch operations with AXA Adivisors in Buffalo.

Hutchinson, a native of Camillus, ranks third in SUNY Potsdam with 819 rebounds. He helped the Bears to the NCAA Division III Tournament in 1973 and 1974. He works in social services and lives near Phoenix.
