Hammond Central unveils new website

HAMMOND — Hammond Central School District announced Tuesday it has launched a new website for parents, teachers, students, and staff.

Penny Simons, technology coordinator, said the website will offer more tools for parents, such as up-to-date athletic schedules, and common core and school board meeting information.

“Eventually we’re looking to see how some of this can replace our newsletter,” Ms. Simons said.

Newsletters and calendars will still be available at the front desk, Interim Superintendent Randy C. Richards said.

“There are still some in the district who do not have access to the Internet,” he said.

Installing a website has been a goal of Mr. Richards since entering the district last year. The old website, he has said, was outdated.

“Rather than just presenting information, we’re hoping this is a two-way vehicle for back and forth communication,” Mr. Richards said. “The challenge on our side will be keeping information contemporary, relevant and updated.”
