Three public forums are on the agenda for Thursday’s Ogdensburg City Council meeting set for 7 p.m. at city hall.

The first forum will give community members the chance to voice their opinion on adding the Pride and Beautification Commission to the municipal code.

The update would increase the number of commission members from nine to 11 as well as add Chapter 58 to the municipal code that would officially codify the commission’s goal of keeping Ogdensburg beautiful and encouraging civic pride.

Members of the public will also be invited to discuss a new city policy that would end weekend meetings at city hall, instead diverting traffic to the Dobisky Visitor’s Center.

City Manager John M. Pinkerton said the city doesn’t have janitorial staff at city hall on the weekends but someone is on hand at the Dobisky Center.

The city is also looking for input regarding the proposed “Complete Streets” legislation that would require the city to consider pedestrians in future infrastructure projects.

The introduction of the legislation was tied to a $7,500 grant the city received in 2013 from the St. Lawrence County Health Initiative that helped pay for several projects around the city designed to make Ogdensburg more pedestrian friendly.
