Copenhagen man arrested on DWI charge after snowmobile accident

WORTH—State police responded to the scene of a snowmobile accident early Thursday on Trail S57A, where they allegedly found the operator of the snowmobile intoxicated.

Police said Marc R. McAleese, 47, of 275 Route 177, Copenhagen, was operating his snowmobile on the trail when he struck a tree and was ejected. Police said he suffered injuries to his left arm and left leg and was taken to Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, but did not say the exact extent of his injuries.

Charges of operating a snowmobile while intoxicated, operating without liability insurance and operating at an imprudent speed will issued as soon as Mr. McAleese is released from the hospital, police said. According to the hospital, Mr. McAleese was no longer at the hospital as of 7 p.m. Friday.

He refused a breath test at the scene, police said.
