School bus with special needs children hits tractor-trailer in Watertown; none injured

A school bus carrying four special-needs children hit a tractor-trailer near the 600 block of Olive Street at 4:20 p.m. Friday, leaving the children distressed, but not injured.

City police said the tractor-trailer was parked on Olive Street and when the school bus turned onto the street from North Rutland Street, there was not enough room on the road and the bus struck the truck.

According to police, the bus was traveling at less than 5 mph and the damage caused was “very minimal.”

After the accident, another school bus came and picked up the four children. The identities of the children are not known, but police said they were from different school districts.

No tickets were issued, but police said the driver of the school bus was at fault.
