Two charged following domestic dispute on Franklin Street

City police charged two people following a domestic dispute at Franklin Street Saturday night.

Police said Trudi L. Harney slapped Benjamen M. Kilburn’s left cheek, causing his hat to fall off. In slapping Mr. Kilburn, Ms. Harney, 45, of 21601 Floral Drive, Apt. 19B, violated an order of protection issued by Jefferson County Court. She was charged with first-degree criminal contempt and second-degree harassment.

During the incident, Mr. Kilburn allegedly yelled despite being told to quiet down, drawing out residents and nearby pedestrians. While being apprehended by police, he allegedly attempted to pull his hands from officers and walk away. He was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Ms. Harney and Mr. Kilburn, both charged around 9:15 p.m. Saturday, were held at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building pending arraignment in City Court.
