Lake Placid native Andrew Weibrecht captured the second Olympic medal of his career Sunday when he won a silver medal in the mens super giant slalom in Sochi, Russia.
Weibrecht, who turned 28 last week, finished .30 seconds behind gold medal winner Kjetil Jansrud of Norway, a four-time gold medal winner in the event. Jansrud finished in 1 minute, 18.14 seconds. American Bode Miller captured the bronze.
Weibrecht was a surprise bronze medal winner in the Vancouver Olympics in 2010. He had survived a littany of injuries to make this years Olympic team.
