Indoor track and field: OFA boys, Canton girls take Section 10 titles

CANTON — The Ogdensburg Free Academy boys and Canton girls celebrated Section 10 titles at the indoor track and field championships on Saturday at Newell Fieldhouse at St. Lawrence University.

OFA captured its first sectional title since 2008, totaling 111 points to best perennial section champion Malone, which compiled 91. The Canton girls dominated with 195 points. Malone placed second with 126.

Donovan Smith claimed the 600 meters and appeared on the winning OFA 1,600 relay to win most valuable runner honors. Potsdam’s O’den Robertson won most valuable field events honors with victories in the 55 meters, triple jump and 800 relay. Peter Clark appeared on the relay and won the 55 hurdles.

Norwood-Norfolk’s Kyle Fulk claimed distance wins in the 1,600 and 3,200. Indian River’s Felix Garcia won the 300 and Austin Millisor the 1,000. Both contributed to the Warriors’ win in the 3,200 relay.

For the Canton girls, Rebecca DelRossi was named MVP of the running events, capturing the 1,000 and appearing on the Golden Bears’ winning 1,600 and 3,200 relays. Lindsay Proulx won the 55 hurdles and shot put for Canton to win MVP honors in the field. The Golden Bears’ Laura Pierce ran to wins in the 1,600 and 3,200. Canton took first in 11 events.
