LOWVILLE A Lowville man was killed Wednesday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Route 12 in the town of Harrisburg.
Perry C. Steria, 71, 7577 Route 12, was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:15 a.m. Sheriffs deputies said he was driving northwest on Route 12 when he attempted to stop for another vehicle that was stopped in the lane attempting to make a left-hand turn into a driveway.
When Mr. Steria applied his brakes, he lost control of the vehicle, according to a sheriffs report. Mr. Sterias vehicle slid into the southbound lane, striking a vehicle driven by Thomas Vincent, 56, Brownville.
Mr. Vincent and his passenger, Ann Vincent, 59, Brownville, were transported to Lewis County General Hospital, where they were treated and released.
Mr. Sterias wife, Bethany B., 64, was transported by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, for unspecified injuries. She was listed in serious condition late Wednesday.
Deputies said the accident is still under investigation, but no charges were anticipated.
