Two Adams teens charged with breaking into vehicles

ADAMS—Two boys, 15 and 14, were arrested early Sunday after village police said they broke into numerous vehicles and stole a purse.

Police said that at 1:23 a.m., the teens, whose names were withheld because of their age, were walking on West Church Street past curfew. When officers went over to speak with them, they allegedly fled on foot before being apprehended. An investigation revealed the two had broken into numerous cars parked in the Great Lakes Cheese factory parking lot, 23 Phelps St.

According to police, they had stolen a purse from Nancy Martin containing money, credit cards and numerous prescription medications. An exact value for the items is not yet known.

Each teen was charged with fourth-degree grand larceny, a class E felony, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. They are to appear in Jefferson County Family Court, Watertown.
