Alan F. Guyton


Alan F. Guyton, 64, of 600 Lillian St., Watertown, passed Tues., Feb. 18 at the Samaritan Medical Center.

Born on August 17, 1949 in Watertown, NY, son of Albert and Helen Bates Guyton, he graduated from IHC.

He entered the US Army on June 2, 1970, and was honorably discharged on January 24, 1972. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Sharpshooter M16 and Expert M14 Medals.

Mr. Guyton worked for St. Regis Paper Co. for twenty three years, and worked at Wal-Mart in Watertown up to January of 2014.

He enjoyed golfing and crossword puzzles. He was a member of the Watertown Elks Lodge #496 and Watertown American Legion.

He married Sandra M. Borowski on June 14, 1975 at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart Church in Watertown. Sandra was a nurse’s aid and secretary in the Watertown area for several years. She passed September 15, 2010.

Among his survivors are two daughters and a son in law, Laurie A. and Elan M. Schlossberg, Albany, Rachel L. Guyton and her fiancÚ Ryan Helm, Chateaugay, NY; a granddaughter, Hannah Schlossberg; a brother and sister in law, David and Sue Guyton, Lockport, NY; a sister, Anne Wallace, Watertown; several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Lynne Shettleton passed in 1999 and a brother, James Guyton passed in 2006.

Calling hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, Feb 21 at the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home, Watertown.

Burial with military honors will take place in the N. Watertown Cemetery in the spring.
