Syracuse names tight end, receivers coaches

SYRACUSE — Syracuse University football coach Scott Shafer announced the addition of Bobby Acosta as the team’s tight ends coach on Thursday.

Shafer also announced that offensive coordinator and associate head coach George McDonald will coach the wide receivers to replace Rob Moore, who left his position for the NFL’s Buffalo Bills earlier this month.

“Bobby is an extremely intelligent coach who understands east coast football and recruiting,” Shafer said in a press release. “He has done an exemplary job developing a relationship with the coaches in New Jersey throughout his career.”

Acosta, a Queens native, was the head coach at Widener University last season. Prior to that, he worked as the offensive coordinator at The College of New Jersey from 2008-12, and spent two years as the tight ends coach at the University of Delaware.
