City police arrested a Fort Drum man shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday after he allegedly was trying to enter the dwelling of a Watertown man.

James L. Harried Jr., 25, of P785 Oswego Ave., was arrested at 5:16 a.m. on the 400 block of East Main Street and charged with second-degree criminal trespassing.

According to police, he attempted to enter the dwelling of Duane E. Petrie, 311 E. Main St., by repeatedly turning the door handle and pushing his way into the residence.

He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and released on bail with an appearance ticket for City Court.
