The team portion of OFA’s Wrestling season ended on Saturday as the Blue Devils crowned five Division II champions at the Section 10 Championships in Malone.

The Blue Devils scored 174 points to place second to Gouverneur’s 206.5 and Malone took third with 80. Massena won the Division I championship over Canton.

OFA led the B entries scoring with 26 points to Gouverneur’s 18.

Eighth grader Cordell David (26-9) went 2-0 winning the 96-pound title, freshman Tanner LaPiene (29-6) won his only match to claim the 113-pound title, junior Bailey Phelps (24-14) went 2-0 to claim the 152-pound title, senior Cody Allen David (24-13) went 2-0 winning the 160-pound title and senior Alex Cole (21-19) went 2-0 winning the 170-pound title.

LaPiene, Cody Allen David and Cole will all be making return trips to the Times Union Center in Albany for the state tournament on March 1-2.

Second place finished were recorded by seventh grader Zach Roberts (19-15) at 106, eighth grader Brody Sheppard (27-8) who suffered an overtime loss in the 120-pound finals, senior Josh Wangler (24-16) at 132, sophomore Adam Rickett (18-19) at 138, senior Jordan McCormick (13-12) at 182 and junior Will Pearson (8-18) at 220.

Chris Cole (99), Austin Lalonde (126), Glynn Breen (145) and Allen Smithers (160) all placed third and Tyler Eaton (170) took fourth.

NAC SPORTSMANSHIP ACADEMIC AWARDS

Will Pearson received OFA’s NAC Outstanding Sportsmanship Award and Pearson also received an NAC All-Academic Award along with Glynn Breen, Cody-Allen David, Tyler Eaton, Jordan McCormick and Adam Rickett.
