St. Lawrence County will accept applications in March to add property to agricultural districts 1 and 2, as well as requests to remove property from Ag District 2. Requests to remove land from Ag District 1 will not be accepted until 2016.
The purpose of the agricultural districts is to help protect farmland and farming activities.
District 1 primarily consists of agricultural land in the western and southern portions of the county. District 2 covers the countys northern and eastern sections. Maps can be viewed at www.co.st-lawrence.ny.us/Departments/Planning/AgDistrictMap.
Landowners interested in adding or removing land must submit a form with information, including the tax parcel number, acreage and a description of the property to the county Planning Office. The forms are available at municipal offices, by calling the Planning Office at 379-2292 or by downloading them at the above website.
All applications must be received or postmarked by March 30. For more information, contact Matilda M. Larson in the Planning Office.
