WELLESLEY ISLAND A seasonal home owned by Robert M. and Doris L. Olin, Watertown, was heavily damaged by fire Friday night.
Randy Beach, first assistant chief of the Wellesley Island Fire Department, said the call came in just after 8 p.m. Friday at 18962 Peel Dock Road about an hour after the Olins arrived for their weekend stay.
It wasnt suspicious at all, and it did lead to an electrical issue, he said Saturday.
No injuries were reported in the fire that gutted two bedrooms on the second floor and resulted in a lot of water damage throughout the downstairs. In the attic it got in the trusses, and it compromised the roof, Mr. Beach said. When the fire got up in the attic, it took a little time to get to it. We had it under control within 30 or 40 minutes.
Most fire departments left the scene by midnight, and the scene was cleared by 1:30 a.m. Saturday. Mutual aid was given by Redwood, LaFargeville, Clayton, Alexandria Bay and Fishers Landing fire departments.
As of Saturday afternoon, fire investigators were still working on the case, Mr. Beach said.
