Police accuse man of slashing car tire, punching officer

City police on Saturday arrested Joshua D. Mantle, 25, of 19325 Route 11, Apt. 9, on multiple charges after he allegedly slashed a car tire, punched an officer and attempted to flee arrest.

Mr. Mantle is accused of slashing the driver’s side rear tire of a Weldon Drive resident’s car at 9:40 p.m.

Ten minutes later, police said, he became disruptive and began yelling and swearing loudly on the 300 block of Bugbee Drive. Police said he was warned numerous times to stop.

Police said that after being told he was under arrest, Mr. Mantle punched Officer Jonathan M. Pitts in the nose before pulling away and running down the street.

He was arrested at 9:56 p.m. on charges of fourth-degree criminal mischief, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and second-degree harassment. He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building for processing, arraigned in City Court and sent back to the jail on $1,000 cash bail.
