Karl A. Savage, age 80 of County Rte. 54, Dexter passed away at his home Friday evening surrounded by his family.
Karl was born January 21, 1934 on Pillar Point; the son of Roswell and Elizabeth Jackson Savage. He graduated from Dexter High School and entered the Navy on February 17, 1954 and served until December 16, 1957 during the Korean War.
Karl married Shirley J. Dorr on June 12, 1959 in Dexter. Karl was a dairy farmer operating Starr Farm until he retired a few years ago.
Karl was a member of the Dexter Volunteer Fire Dept. for over 50 years, a member of Dexter F & A.M. Lodge #1072, former Staff Officer for Grand Lodge State of N.Y. Jefferson District in 1982-1983, Jeff-Lewis Square Club, Smith-Savage Post 583 Dexter American Legion.
He is survived by his wife Shirley and four children: Alan K. Savage and his companion Amy Kizzer, Gail E. Savage, Joanne Flath all of Dexter and Shari J. Lyng and her husband Patrick of Natural Bridge. He has nine grandchildren. Also a brother Robert Savage of Dexter and a sister Jean Bloom of Phoenix, Arizona and several nieces and nephews also survive.
He was predeceased by sisters Margaret Edgarton, Helen Majo, Carol Savage and a brother Lyle Savage.
Funeral services will be Saturday March 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home, Dexter with the Rev. Gail Parsons of United Presbyterian Church of Dexter officiating. Spring burial will be in Dexter Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday February 28th from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Dexter American Legion will a service at 6:00 P.M., Dexter Masons will be at 7:00 P.M. and the Dexter Fire Dept. Bell Service will be at 7:30 P.M. Donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County or the Dexter Fire Dept.
