City police ticketed a Copenhagen man with leaving the scene of a crash after he admitted his involvement in an incident with a pedestrian late Friday night on the 500-block of State Street.

Police said Zachary E. Shambo, 24, of 10194 Washington St., hit Loren J. Laflesh, 57, of 661 Factory St., at 11:47 p.m. Friday. Police were unable to find his red 1999 Jeep Wrangler that night.

The collision left Mr. Laflesh with severe facial trauma that sent him to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. He was listed in stable condition Sunday.

On Sunday, Mr. Shambo called officers and told them that he did not see Mr. Laflesh due to low visibility and rain that night, that he was confused by the flashing of a nearby police car and that his passenger told him the pedestrian was OK.

In their report, police said Mr. Laflesh was at fault for the crash, as he was observed by an officer at the time walking in the dark roadway, outside of a crosswalk, and wearing dark clothing.
