OK, its time for me to throw my 2 cents worth into the Rooftop Highway issue.
I read Dwayne Martins letter in the morning paper [Feb. 20]. I agree with you that we need good roads to promote transportation of goods and make traveling easier and safer.
Does anyone have a rough idea of what this project would cost? How many farmers and rural people would lose part of their land by eminent domain and the added cost of maintaining this highway added on to maintaining Route 11?
Mr. Martin stated in his letter that only gas stations will suffer. I wonder if the residents of Sandy Creek, Pierrepont Manor, Mansville, Adams, etc., would agree with you. Gov. Cuomo wants to set aside $2.5 million to study the feasibility of the project.
Why not improve Route 11 with the money? Shouldnt we try to save tax dollars instead of adding to the problem?
