City police arrived at First Round bar, 498 Factory St., at 2:10 a.m. Thursday to find a city man with a puncture wound on his neck and the man accused of stabbing him a few blocks away.
Kenneth D. Lance Jr., 25, of 30½ Grange Ave., Adams, was located on Bronson Street by Lt. Michael J. LaBarge after bar patrons said he fled the scene on foot after allegedly stabbing Kevin M. Smith, 47, of 234 High St., in the neck.
Details as to what led to the alleged stabbing are not known, but police said Mr. Smith was stabbed with a folding pocket knife.
He was taken by Guilfoyle Ambulance to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment and later transferred to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, where he was listed in serious condition Thursday afternoon.
Mr. Lance was charged with first-degree assault, a class B felony. He was arraigned in City Court and sent to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building on $20,000 bail.
While police were investigating, they found and arrested an Adams woman on a bench warrant out of City Court. Alexis A. Gates, 22, of 33 N. Park St., Apt. 2A, is accused of failing to appear on a charge unrelated to the alleged stabbing.
She was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held pending arraignment in City Court.
Following her arraignment, she was sent back to the jail on $300 bail.
