Norfolk woman charged with criminal contempt

CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - NORFOLK - Massena-based state police charged Melissa M. Pitts, 25, of 14 Remington Ave., Massena, with second-degree criminal contempt and obstruction of governmental administration following an incident Friday afternoon at her residence. She allegedly violated an order of protection directing her to stay away from Aaron Maslin. Pitts also reportedly told troopers Mr. Maslin was not at her residence, but he was located hiding in the basement at 14 Remington Ave. Pitts was arraigned by Massena Town Justice James M. Crandall and released under the supervision of the probation department pending an appearance in Norfolk Town Court.

Maslin was also taken into custody and charged with first-degree sexual abuse, second-degree burglary and first-degree criminal contempt and three misdemeanor counts stemming from an incident that occurred Feb. 23. He had been arraigned Friday by Judge Crandall and sent to the county jail with bail set at $20,000 cash or $40,000 bond.

Maslin had been charged with violating a Family Court order of protection that directed him to stay away from an ex-girlfriend.
