BENCH WARRANT - MASSENA - Village police said Jose A. Castro-Luzunaris, 26, of 19 County Route 45, Hogansburg, turned himself in at 8:10 p.m. Sunday on a bench warrant issued by St. Lawrence County Court. He was transported to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility pending arraignment on the warrant.
Castro-Luzunaris, formerly of 437 McCarthy Rd., Winthrop,has been indicted by a St. Lawrence County grand jury on second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property counts.
It is alleged that police found a loaded 9mm handgun in the waistband of Mr. Castro-Luzunariss pants on the afternoon of April 11. According to a grand jury indictment, that gun was the property of Andrew Jensen of Colton. Several Massena area men, including Mr. Jensens grandson, were recently charged with stealing guns from a safe at Mr. Jensens summer residence.
Police had stopped Janek P. Podeswik, 25, of Syracuse, and Castro-Luzunarison Maple Street when they were investigating a home invasion on Spruce Street.
Podeswik was found with a bag containing seven bundles of heroin. He was placed on one year of interim probation in October after pleading guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
