OBGC to meet Chateaugay in semis


MALONE - Chateaugay, North Star, St. John Bosco moved into Sunday’s Franklin CYO Basketball Final Four Sunday with wins on Saturday at St. Joseph’s Academy.

St. Joseph’s will host Sunday’s Final 4 where Chateaugay will meet top-seeded and regular season champion, the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, at 11:45 a.m. and St. John Bosco will match up with North Star. The championship game is set for 4 p.m. on Sunday.

The OBGC Bs will play the St. John Bosco Bs at 1 p.m.

North star 84, Langdon Surveyors 44: Alex Shackett’s 34 points and 11 rebounds led the winners with Jared Webb and Mike Lavoie (12 assists) 14 points apiece. Nick Lamica added 13 point 3 threes. For Langdon, Justin Cartier and Dylan Tavernia each had 11 points,

St. John Bosco 57, Bangor 41: John Armstrong led the winners with a tremendous double double 23 points and 17 rebounds, followed by Austin Gonyea and Mike Duchaine with 14 points each.

Chateaugay 67, Maranatha 50: Adam Beane once again led the winners with 23 points, followed by Zack Cook with 12. Others scoring work Tyler McCann with eight, Reed Lashway and Mike Campbell with six each, and Jordan Tacy and Brett Jutunen with five apiece. Maranatha was led by Ben Haug with 12 points, and five rebounds, followed by Matt Fish and Sean Rabideau with 10 points apiece. Jake Searles, Mike Shaw, and Brian Cramer rounded out the scoring with six points each.

In splinter action Chateaugay beat St. John Bosco 46 to 13. Jordan Tacy led the winners with 15 points while Jason Lord had a double double 10 points and 10 rebounds. Other scorers were Isaiah Boadway with six, Doug Bombard with five, Seth LaBombard and Brett Jutunen with four apiece, and Reed Lashway with two. Bosco scorers were Mike Derouchie with four, Brooke Secore with three, Elijah Russell, Eddie Barr, and Kelsey Musgrove with two points each.

In the other splinter contest, it was Bangor over Marantha 48-24. For the winners, Zach Monica and Brenden Marshall each scored 16 points while Anthony Lamica scored five and Nate Sauve and Tyler Charrette each scored four.
