FORT DRUM A former West Point sergeant admitted on Wednesday to videotaping female cadets, some as they undressed in a locker room, during his court martial Wednesday on post.
Sgt. First Class Michael McClendon will serve a 33-month sentence for the charges, according to a New York Times report. He also will be reduced in rank to private before being thrown out of the Army with a bad-conduct discharge after serving out his sentence.
While at the school, the nations oldest military academy, Sgt. McClendon was responsible for the health and welfare of a company of about 125 cadets. The paper said the sergeant had two deployments to Iraq in his career and had previously been awarded the Bronze Star.
The case first came up last year as concerns were building about sexual assault in the military.
