Potsdam’s Trevor Scott signs one-year deal with NFL’s Chicago Bears

CHICAGO - Former Potsdam Central standout Trevor Scott has found a new NFL home with the Chicago Bears.

Entering the seventh year of his professional football career, Scott signed a one-year contract to play defensive end for the Bears, it was announced on Thursday.

The 6-5, 260-pound Potsdam product, who was a three-sport standout at PCS, has appeared in 76 NFL games with 18 starts over six seasons. He was selected by the Raiders in the sixth round of the 2008 draft out of the University of Buffalo. His best season came in 2009 when he notched 37 tackles, seven sacks, 11 tackles-for-loss, 12 quarterback hits and six special-teams tackles while playing in all 16 games with six starts for Oakland.

Scott and the Raiders parted ways after the end of the 2011 season and he subsequently signed one-year deals with the New England Patriots for 2012 and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers for this past season.

Scott was released by the Buccaneers last October 24 after appearing in four games, all as a reserve. In his previous six seasons, he has registered 94 career tackles, 16.5 sacks, 21 tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and one pass breakup as well as 20 tackles on special teams.
