CRIMINAL MISCHIEF - MASSENA - Village police charged Nicholas C. Smiddy, 22, of 50 Kelly Road, Fort Covington, with two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest at 3:10 a.m. on Church Street at Nadeau. Police said Smiddy left the Hotel Nadeau and jumped on and across two vehicles, including a Massena Transport cab, and then ran when police attempted to question him about the incident.

AGGRAVATED UNLICENSED OPERATION - MASSENA - Village police charged Michael J. Sears, 39, of Helena with third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and ticketed him for operation of a vehicle with an inadequate plate lamp at 1:17 a.m. Sunday following a traffic stop on Main Street.

ENDANGERING THE WELFARE - MASSENA - Village police charged Cynthia M. Cancel, 26, of 112 Woodlawn Ave., Massena, with endangering the welfare of a child at 4:46 p.m. Saturday. She had reportedly hired a teenager to watch her child while she went out for a few hours. Police alleged Cancel became intoxicated and incapacitated and failed to return home until Saturday.

PETIT LARCENY - MASSENA - Village police charged a 15-year-old male with petit larceny at 12:38 p.m. Saturday stemming from an investigation into a shoplifting incident that had occurred in January at Price Chopper. His case was turned over to the probation department to determine if the teenager will be petitioned to St. Lawrence County Family Court.

STOP SIGN - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Roger D. Smith Jr., 24, of Talcott Street, Massena, for a stop sign violation following a traffic stop at 9:02 p.m. Saturday on Parker Avenue.

INADEQUATE HEADLIGHTS - MASSENA - Village police ticketed John C. Tulip, 57, of Grant Street, Massena, for operation of a vehicle with inadequate headlights following a traffic stop at 8:13 p.m. Saturday on state Route 37.

CELL PHONE - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Eric A. Converse, 36, of Maple Street, Massena, for use of a cell phone while operating a motor vehicle following a traffic stop at 3:07 p.m. Saturday on North Main Street

FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Shantel N. Sullivan, 29, of School Street, Massena, for following too closely and operation of an unregistered motor vehicle accident following a property damage accident at 12:42 p.m. Saturday on state Route. 37.

SPEEDING - MASSENA - Village police ticketed Cheri L. Rogofsky, 40, of Rooseveltown, for speed in zone following a traffic stop at 9:15 a.m. Saturday on Bayley Road.
