Cornell Cooperative Extension of Jefferson Countyhas been selected to receive a $1,000 grant as part of the Restaurant Community Grants program from the Darden Restaurants Foundation, the charitable arm of Darden Restaurants.
The grants program, now in its third year, empowers each restaurant in the Darden family of brands toaward a $1,000 grant to local community programs. The grant will help the Jefferson County extension launch an ornithology program at its summer camp, 4-H Camp Wabasso. Educational displays identifying plant species and birds they attract will be featured along the camps nature walking trail.
We appreciate Darden Restaurants generous donation. These funds will allow us to enhance the outdoor experience for everyone attending 4-H Camp Wabasso and will also educate them about area native bird species, said Kevin J. Jordan, executive director of the Jefferson County extension.
