Lyons Falls man arrested following two-county police chase

LYONS FALLS — A Lyons Falls man was arrested on a drug charge and ticketed with several traffic infractions after he led Lewis County sheriff’s deputies on a 90-minute car chase Friday night that reached speeds of 80 mph and took place in parts of two counties.

Deputies said Timothy J. Carmen, 33, of 4005 Center St., refused to stop for a traffic infraction on Center Street, but sped away and took deputies into Oneida County. He was finally stopped when state police used spike strips on Thompson Road, near Holland Patent, to deflate three tires, deputies said.

He was then taken into custody without incident and brought to the Lewis County Public Safety Building.

Deputies charged him with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful fleeing a police officer, third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, speeding and numerous other traffic violations.

Deputies found a small amount of methamphetamines on him. More charges are pending following blood test results, deputies said.

He was remanded to the Lewis County jail, Lowville, on $1,000 bail.

Boonville and Oneida County sheriff’s deputies assisted in the chase.
