A Watertown teen was arrested Sunday afternoon on multiple charges after he allegedly strangled a woman until she lost consciousness and headbutted her as she was holding their 4-month-old son.
Joshua J. Staplin, 19, of 1620 Huntington St., Apt. J6, was arrested at the residence he shares with Sarah A. Staplin.
City police said that at around 1:05 p.m., Mr. Staplin wrapped both his hands around Ms. Staplins neck and squeezed so hard that she could not talk or breathe and lost consciousness for a period of time.
Additionally, Mr. Staplin allegedly punched her in the back and headbutted her in the forehead while she was holding their infant child.
He was arrested at the residence at 1:18 p.m. and charged with second-degree strangulation, a class D felony, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, arraigned in City Court and sent back to the jail on $2,500 cash bail.
