Voters in five St. Lawrence County villages will head to the polls Tuesday, but only one village has a contested race.
Voting will take place from noon to 9 p.m. in all of the locations.
The only contested race is in Morristown. Trustee John R. Barse is not running again. Peter A. Paquette and Janet M. Newtown are seeking his seat. Ballots will be cast in the fire hall.
Mrs. Newtown is a Morristown native who moved back to the village after her retirement. She ran Interiors North, a kitchen and bathroom design company in Ogdensburg, with her husband, John.
Mr. Paquette, also a Morristown native, is the Waddington postmaster and is a dive captain for the Morristown Volunteer Fire Departments underwater rescue team. He was previously on the Morristown Central School Board.
Elections will also take place in:
n Hammond: Mayor Shelly M. Youngs and Trustee Patti T. Belknap are running unopposed. Polls will be open at the fire hall.
n Hermon: Incumbent trustees Richard J. Bardeschewski Jr. and Nathan A. Young are running without opposition. Voting will take place in the fire hall.
n Norwood: Incumbent trustees Richard J. Boprey and Timothy A. Levison are seeking re-election. The vote will be in the municipal building.
