SYRACUSE Syracuse University football coach Scott Shafer announced the suspension of offensive lineman Ivan Foy for spring practice on Tuesday.
Foy, who started at right tackle last season, was suspended for academics. Shafer said he hopes Foy can be reinstated before the start of fall training camp. Spring practice starts March 18 and concludes with the annual spring game April 19.
SU also announced that wide receivers Keenan Hale and Adrian Flemming, along with defensive lineman Donnie Simmons, have been cleared for spring practice. All three players missed the 2013 season with injuries.
Shafer said five players will be held out of spring practice with various injuries. That group consists of safety Durell Eskridge, linebacker Luke Arciniega, offensive lineman Nick Robinson, and defensive linemen John Raymon and Kennedy Kodua.
Kicker Ross Krautman and Mitch Kimble will be limited this spring with lower body injuries.
