Snow continues for NNY until early this afternoon

Several north country school districts are under two-hour delays this morning because of the heavy snowfall yesterday and overnight.

The latest snow storm crippled traffic all around Northern New York and forced dozens of schools and organizations to cancel activities Wednesday.

The National Weather Service has lifted its winter storm warning for the tri-county region at 8 a.m. this morning but light snow showers could continue until 2 p.m. today in some areas.

Forecasters with the weather service expect another inch of snow to accumulate today in Lewis County and possibly half an inch in Jefferson County on top of more than 14 inches of snow winter storm Vulcan dumped on the region over the past 24 hours.

In St. Lawrence County, blowing snow before 2 p.m. and strong northeast winds up to 20 mph will likely hinder travel today.

Wind chills could drop to as low as minus 15 degrees today in all three counties, according to the weather service.
