Immaculate Conception Church in Brownville, 119 W. Main St., and St. Andrews Church in Sackets Harbor, E. Main and Woolsey streets, will welcome the Rev. William Muench beginning Sunday for a four-day parish mission.
Father Muench, a former pastor at the churches, will base his mission, from Sunday through Wednesday, on the Luminous Mysteries of the Rosary.
He will preach at the weekend Masses: on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Sackets Harbor and 5:30 p.m. in Brownville; and on Sunday at 8 and 10 a.m. in Brownville and 11:30 a.m. in Sackets Harbor.
Father Muench also will celebrate Mass and preach at 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday in Brownville and at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Sackets Harbor.
A native of Syracuse, Father Muench was a chemistry and physics teacher at Immaculate Heart Central School, Watertown, in the 1960s and 1970s. He also coached basketball and tended to the spiritual needs of IHC students during that time.
In addition to being pastor at the parishes in Brownville and Sackets Harbor, Father Muench was pastor of St. Peters Church in Lowville and St. Marys Church in Ticonderoga. He also was principal of St. Marys Catholic High School, Ogdensburg ,and served in the Diocese of Ogdensburgs mission parish, St. Martin de Porres, Mollendo, Peru. His most recent assignment was temporary pastor of St. Bernards, Saranac Lake.
