SUNY Potsdam athletes earn academic honors


POTSDAM - SUNY Potsdam student-athletes competing in fall sports were recognized by the State University of New York Athletic Conference for their academic success during the fall 2013 semester the league announced Thursday March 6.

A total of 41 student-athletes were named to the All-Academic List, which includes players maintaining a minimum 3.3 grade-point-average for the semester and 23 of the 41 total student-athletes were also given Commissioner’s List accolades. Players named to this list have carried a minimum 3.3 grade-point-average over three consecutive semesters at Potsdam.

Twenty-one Bears made it onto both the All-Academic team and the Commissioner’s List.

What follows is the list of Bears to earn scholastic honors. Those earning being named All-Academic are listed with an A and those named to the Commissioner’s List with a C.

Men’s Cross Country: Brandon Bobik (A, C), Jonathan Doane (A, C), Adam Lang (C), Evan Price (C).

Women’s Cross Country: Sara Behuniak (A, C), Carissa Cuccia (A, C), Mikaela Foster (A, C), Lindsay Johnson (A), Kinga Kanczura (A), Margaret McGrath (A, C), Olivia Rehm (A, C).

Men’s Soccer: Eric Cassidy (A, C), Sam Caton (A), Alex Griffith (A, C), Dylan Krueger (A), Stefan Sloma (A), Ben Steinberg (A, C), James Turcott (A), Johnny Zator (A).

Women’s Soccer: Lisa Bates (A, C), Ally Blazey (A, C), Kate Clauss (A, C), Nina Komosinski (A, C), Sara Livecchi (A), Bri McClusky (A), Cassandra McNitt (A, C), Amanda Peterson (A), Marissa Skaczkowski (A, C), Jess Sterns (A), Kaylen Van Wagner (A), Kristin Webster (A, C), Kaleigh Zappia (A).

Volleyball: Gabi Arana (A), Sarah Becker (A), Jenna Blujus (A, C), Casey Chase (A, C), Caryn Kelleher (A, C), Amara Pascuito (A), Dakota Pruiss (A, C), Allie Romaniello (A).

Men’s Golf: Kevin Doherty (A).
