The Gallery at Jefferson Community College will host an opening reception for a show featuring the work of associate professor of art Lucinda D. Barbour at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in the lobby of the Gallery.
The display, Exploring Duality, can be viewed through April 5 at the Gallery, on the first floor of the Jules Center, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. when classes are in session. The art show features works in a variety of media including oil paintings, watercolors, colored pencil, mixed media and watercolor crayons using a dry application.
The exhibit includes portraits that delve into the persons internal life as well as exterior appearance. Stylistically, they reflect traditional Indian portraits in the background colors, emphasis on the eyes, and the symbols of the lotus flower and peacock feather.
