ITHACA — Andy Iles stopped 28 of 29 shots to lead the Cornell men’s hockey team to a 2-1 win over Clarkson in the opening game of an ECAC Hockey quarterfinal series on Friday night at Lynah Rink.

Cornell (16-8-5 overall) took a 2-0 lead off goals from Kirill Gotovets and Joakim Ryan. Clarkson’s only goal came on a penalty shot from freshman Jordan Boucher at 14:49 of the second period.

Clarkson (20-16-4) needs to win game two at 7 tonight to extend the series to a deciding game Sunday.
