Massena man charged with aggravated DWI


The following are charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated:

n Jamie L. Hicks, 38, of 5 Highland Ave., was also charged on Thursday by state police with consuming alcohol in a motor vehicle on a public highway.

Troopers allege that prior to a 9:34 p.m. traffic stop on Route 56 in Norfolk, Mr. Hicks was swerving in the road, hit a snow bank and drove his vehicle back onto the road. State police said he had a blood alcohol content of 0.21 percent.

A DWI charge is elevated to aggravated DWI when the blood alcohol content is 0.18 percent or higher.

Mr. Hicks was arraigned in Norfolk Town Court and released on his own recognizance.

n Mark W. Murray, 62, of Winthrop, was charged on Thursday by state police.

Troopers allege that at 2:50 p.m. at Millar’s Garage, Route 11C, North Lawrence,a patrol spotted Mr. Murray sleeping in his vehicle with the driver’s side door open. State police said his blood alcohol content was 0.22 percent. Mr. Murray was arraigned in Lawrence Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
