POTSDAM — Senior goalie Erica Howe recorded 23 saves to lead the nationally ranked No. 3/4 Clarkson women’s hockey team to 3-1 victory over No. 5 Boston College in the NCAA Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at Cheel Arena.

The Golden Knights improved to 29-5-5 and advanced to the Frozen Four for the first time in program history.

They will play Mercyhurst in the NCAA semifinals Friday at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Conn.

Vanessa Gagnon scored twice and Brittany Styner added a goal for Clarkson.

Boston College, which had made the past three Frozen Fours, ended its season at 27-7-3.
