AMHERST - The north county will be well represented in the championship games at the 16U state tournaments this afternoon in Amherst.
The St. Lawrence Thunder, sponsored by the Massena Minor Hockey Association, will meet Monroe County at 1:30 p.m. for the Tier II 16U title.
The Thunder advanced to the championship game with a 6-1 win over the Greater New York Stars.
They swept their opening round play with a 7-0 victory over this afternoons opponent, Monroe County; a 6-4 win over Niagara JPE and a 5-0 blanking of the Long Island Edge.
The puck will also drop at 1:30 p.m. when Norwood-Norfolk battles Bronxville for the Tier III 16U championship.
Norwood-Norfolk downed their neighbors from Louisville by a 7-2 margin this morning to earn a chance to play for the state championship.
N-N edged Bronxville 6-4 in the opening round of the tournament. They also beat Alex Bay 5-1 and Jamestown in opening round play.
Bronxville skated to a 5-1 victory over Palisades this morning to earn the rematch with N-N.
