Angelo A. Guarino, 85, of Emmett Street in Watertown passed away peacefully with family at his side on Thursday, March 13, 2014,

Born on December 4, 1928 he was the oldest son of the late Anthony and Nellie Castro Guarino of Watertown. Angelo was a 1948 graduate of Watertown High School and worked for the New York Air Brake Company as a machinist for 44 years. Angelo was drafted into the United States Army in 1950 when he met Fiorella Scarchilli, his beloved wife of over 62 years. The couple married on August 14, 1952 in Rome, Italy while stationed in Europe. Together they have two sons and their wives, Angelo, Jr. and Emy of Oahu, Hawaii and Albert and Rebecca of Brownville, NY.

Angelo was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity as well as the many stories he shared with family and friends of the history of Watertown, his time in the Army, and especially his 44 years at the Air Brake.

He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church in Watertown.

Angelo is survived by his wife and children as well as five grandchildren, Angelo III and Tracy of Watertown; Christopher of Syracuse; Paul of Mechanicsburg, PA.; Briana of Brownville; and Miranda of Brownville, as well as two great –grandsons, Mariano and Luciano, both of Watertown, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Calling hours will be Monday 2-4 and 7-9pm at the D.L. Calarco Funeral Home, Inc. A funeral mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Church on Tuesday at 1pm with Reverend Donald Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery with military honors. Contributions may be made to St. Anthony’s Church, 850 Arsenal Street, Watertown, NY 13601.
