After she allegedly pulled a woman to the ground by her hair and struck her numerous times, Tanya M. Tibbles, 55, of 146 Union St., Apt. 2, was charged with third-degree assault.

City police said that at about 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Artie’s Tavern, 329 High St., Ms. Tibbles threw Patricia G. Kanik, of 1709 Ohio St., Apt. 94, to the ground and struck her numerous times in the face and head, causing a laceration to her right cheek and swelling to her left cheek and upper lip. After the incident, Ms. Kanik was reportedly in “substantial pain.”

She was arrested at 4:59 p.m. Sunday on the 100 block of High Street and taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building. She was issued an appearance ticket to City Court. Ms. Kanik requested an order of protection against Ms. Tibbles.
