CRIMINAL CONTEMPT - MASSENA - Village police charged Kevin S. Hughes II, 23, of 82 East Orvis St., Massena, with second-degree criminal contempt at 1:55 p.m. Tuesday when he appeared in village court for a previous charge.

Hughes allegedly violated an order of protection when he went to his former’s girlfriend’s residence, 48 East Hatfield St., at 12:13 p.m. March 17. He reportedly became upset when Brittany Clare told him to leave, started arguing with her and threw items around her residence. He left when a neighbor knocked on the door.

Hughes was arraigned on the new charge by Massena Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson and was released after posting $250 cash bail.

Village police had previously charged Hugheswith second-degree criminal contempt, second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child at 1:12 a.m. Jan. 31 during a domestic dispute. He allegedly violated an order of protection issued by Norfolk Town Justice George C. Grubee when he pushed Ms, Clare, slammed her to the floor and threw her cell phone during an argument that took place in the presence of their five-month-old child.

ASSAULT - MASSENA - Village police charged a 14-year-old female with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief at 2:20 p.m. Tuesday stemming from an investigation into an incident that occurred March 10 at the J. William Leary Junior High School. The juvenile’s case was handed over to the probation department to determine if she will be petitioned to St. Lawrence County Family Court.

BURGLARY - MASSENA - Village police charged a 14-year-old male and a 13-year-old female with third-degree burglary and petit larceny at noon Tuesday following an investigation into a burglary on the evening of March 15 at Alex’s Ice Shop, 30 George St. Their cases were turned over to the probation department to determine if they will be petitioned to St. Lawrence County Family Court.

NO INSURANCE - MASSENA - Village police charged Jessica K. Despaw, 27, of Maple Street, Massena, with operation of a vehicle with no insurance and a suspended registration at 2:51 p.m. Tuesday following a traffic stop on Bayley Road.
