Netto defends three titles at YMCA state meet

Michael Netto of Watertown became a three-time state champion in the 200-yard individual medley and 100 breaststroke for boys ages 15-18, and a four-time champ in the open 200 breaststroke, at the YMCA state championship swimming meet over the weekend at Ithaca College.

Netto, 17, who competes for the Watertown YMCA Blue Sharks team, also took seventh in the 50 free and swam on the seventh-place 200 medley relay and ninth-place 400 free relay.

Sarah Kilburn, who swims in the girls 9-10 group for the Blue Sharks, claimed the 50 butterfly and contributed to the eighth-place 200 free relay.

Watertown was represented by 58 swimmers, according to Blue Sharks head coach Lori Peters. There were 39 YMCA’s at the meet, and Watertown was the seventh-largest team.
