Watertown man charged with aggravated DWI


BROWNVILLE — Joshua L. Elliott, 34, of 348 Paddock St., Watertown, was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after he was stopped by Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies for swerving in his lane and driving at an inconsistent speed on Route 12E in the town of Brownville at 11:33 p.m. Monday,they said.

He was found to have a blood alcohol content of 0.20 percent, deputies said. He told deputies he had three or four beers at work and was driving home, they said. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes proof of intoxication. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or higher.

Additionally, deputies said a metal container with about one gram of marijuana was found in his pants pocket.

He was charged at the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building with aggravated DWI, unlawful possession of marijuana, failure to keep right and inadequate plate lamps.
