Police: Clayton woman arrested on DWI charge after driving north on I-81 southbound

ADAMS — Jefferson County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 45-year-old Clayton woman early Monday who allegedly was driving north on the southbound lanes of Interstate 81 while intoxicated.

Jill V. Wimmer, of 13919 House Road, was charged with felony aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving over a dividing space at 12:09 a.m. Monday on I-81 in the town of Adams. Her vehicle was towed from the scene.

Her blood alcohol content was 0.24 percent, three times the legal limit, deputies said. Under state law, a BAC of 0.08 percent or higher constitutes proof of intoxication. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or higher.

The felony charge stems from a prior DWI conviction within the past 10 years.

Town Justice Donald B. Shaw ordered her held on $10,000 bail in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building. She is to return to Town Court to answer the charges.
